“IF YOU FORGIVE THE SINS OF ANY, THEIR SINS HAVE BEEN FORGIVEN THEM; IF YOU RETAIN THE SINS OF ANY, THEY HAVE BEEN RETAINED.”  (JOHN 20:23)

“. . . Do not forgive their iniquity
Or blot out their sin from Your sight.
But may they be overthrown before You;
Deal with them in the time of Your anger!”(Jeremiah 18:23)(Bold added)

“Therefore repent of this wickedness of yours, and pray the Lord that, if possible, the intention of your heart may be forgiven you. For I see that you are in the gall of bitterness and in the bondage of iniquity.”(Acts 8:22-23) Photo: (https://www.gettyimages.com/photos/priest-abuse?assettype=image&page=3&phrase=priest%20abuse&sort=mostpopular&license=rf%2Crm)

SIXTH STEP:  “WE’RE ENTIRELY READY TO HAVE GOD REMOVE ALL THESE DEFECTS OF CHARACTER.”

THE CATHOLIC CHURCH ABUSE . . .

In an article entitled, Victims of Clergy Abuse Wrestle with Faith, Past by NPR’s Rachel Martin dated January 11, 2007,  you hear audio corroborations unveiled by victims of Clergy Abuse detailing horrific experiences.

The commentator, Robert Siegel, begins with an opening  statement, “The victims, how bringing their story into the public has been both cathartic and  painful . . . For others, the last five years have opened up more wombs than they’ve healed.”

One of the testimonials introduced by Rachel Martin interviewer and author of NPR, “Chris L., A husband, father, recovering addict and victim of clergy sexual abuse, (in and out of therapy for a decade) . . . And just a few months ago, tried to commit suicide.

Another testimonial came from Terry S., who stated, “I felt like God had come down out of the heavens and raped me, literally.” (Bold added)

A source from another article explained that “currently at least 80 percent of the work of the congregation falls under the discipline section, which has a backlog of some 4,500 cases of abuse inside the Catholic Church.” (Bold added)
You cannot have secrecy and accountability at the same time . . . Is sexual secrecy part of the core of this organization, (The Catholic Church)? . . . The answers is yes. . . Yes!  That is what holds it together!” (Parenthesis added) Richard Sipe, Psychologist, Former Monk
EXAMPLE OF ONGOING SECRECY IN THE CATHOLIC CHURCH ACCORDING TO THE UNITED NATIONS . . .

“But the United Nations took notice. In early 2014, the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child issued a report concluding that the Pope and the Roman Catholic Church protected their reputation at the expense of children:

“The Holy See has consistently placed the preservation of the reputation of the church and the protection of perpetrators above children’s best interest. Another matter was the code of silence that was imposed by the church on children and the fact that reporting to national law enforcement authorities has never been made compulsory.”(Bold added)

“The Committee expressed grave concern that the Holy See had not acknowledged the extent of the crimes committed and had not taken the necessary measures either to protect children or to address cases of child sexual abuse. It found that it had instead adopted policies and practices which led to the continuation of the abuse and which supported the impunity of the perpetrators.”(Bold added)(Italics added)

“Pope Francis did set up a Vatican Committee to fight sexual abuse of children in the Catholic Church.  However, that Committee was plagued by difficulties and eventually declared inactive, raising new worries about the current pope’s commitment to addressing the sexual abuse crisis.” (https://www.law.Georgetown.edu/gender-journal/W2-content/uploads/sites/20/2020/01/Article-4.pdf)

THE AUTHORITY AND AUDACITY OF PEDOPHILES . . .

“VATICAN CITY — Pope Francis came under new pressure Wednesday to punish bishops who covered up for pedophile priests when a U.N. human rights panel accused the Vatican of systematically protecting its reputation instead of looking out for the safety of children.”https://us.cnn.com/2002/WORLD/europe/03/21/vatican.sex.abuse/

“Among other things, the panel called on the Vatican to immediately remove all priests known or suspected to be child molesters, open its archives on abusers and the bishops who covered up for them, and turn the abuse cases over to law enforcement authorities for investigation and prosecution.”

“The committee largely brushed aside the Vatican’s claims that it has already instituted new safeguards, and it accused the Roman Catholic Church of still harboring criminals.

“The committee is gravely concerned that the Holy See has not acknowledged the extent of the crimes committed, has not taken the necessary measures to address cases of child sexual abuse and to protect children, and has adopted policies and practices which have led to the continuation of the abuse by, and the impunity of, the perpetrators,” the panel said.”

AS AN EXAMPLE . . .

“In the aftermath of the Lafayette scandal, (i. e. Gilbert Guathe abuse case detailed below) there was a tremendous amount of legislative reform designed to liberalize statutes of limitations and address the issue of child sexual abuse.” (Parenthesis added)

Much of the early activity focused on extending the period of time or “tolling” for those under the age of majority.  The National Center for Survivors of Crime reports that nearly every state now has a basic suspension of its statute of limitations for civil actions while a person is a minor.  In addition, many states have specific provisions addressing child sexual abuse and several states are eliminating limitations defenses in such cases.”

“. . . however, the Catholic Church is heavily involved in lobbying against child sexual abuse survivors who try to persuade lawmakers to open up limitations periods.  The Guardian put it bluntly:

“The U.S. Catholic church has poured millions of dollars over the past decade into opposing accountability measures for survivors of clergy sex abuse.”

It singled out a number of important jurisdictions where the Church paid millions of dollars to lobbyists, including for “issues associated with timelines for commencing certain civil actions related to sex offenses.”(https://www.law.Georgetown.edu/gender-journal/W2-content/uploads/sites/20/2020/01/Article-4.pdf)

MONEY DOES NOT ERASE THE SIN!!!

THE POPE WANTS THOSE VIOLATED TO FOCUS ON FORGIVENESS WHILE MINIMIZING THE ABUSE STEMMING FROM THE CHURCH . . .

YES, SCRIPTURE SAYS . . .

“For if you forgive others for their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.” (Matthew 6:14)

SCRIPTURE IS NOT TO BE USED AS AN EXCUSE TO CONTINUE IN SIN! . . .  YOU CAN’T JUST GIVE $200 AS A PASS TO “GO!”. . . MONEY DOES NOT PERMIT CONTINUOUS SIN WITH CYCLICAL FORGIVENESS!!!
SCRIPTURE ALSO SAYS . . .

“What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin so that grace may increaseMay it never be!”

Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death? Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life. For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin; for he who has died is freed from sin.”(Romans 6:1-7)(Bold added)(Italics added)

“IF YOU FORGIVE THE SINS OF ANY, THEIR SINS HAVE BEEN FORGIVEN THEM; IF YOU RETAIN THE SINS OF ANY, THEY HAVE BEEN RETAINED.” (JOHN 20:23)

THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM IN THE CATHOLIC CHURCH . . .

“Each diocese determines its own standard to deem a priest credibly accused, with the allegations ranging from inappropriate conversations and unwanted hugging to forced sodomy and rape.”  (https://www.nbcnews.com/news/religion/nearly/-1-700-priests-clergy-accused-sex-abuse-are-unsupervised-n1062396)

FATHER BRENDAN SMYTH . . .

“. . . on a number of occasions from 1968 up to his pre- trial period in 1994 Smyth underwent psychiatric hospital treatment in Northern Ireland, the Republic and England, which included electric shock therapy.”https://www.irishtimes.com/news/crime-and-law/brendan-smyth-may-have-abused-more-than-200-children-1.2258487

“The inquiry heard that the first suspicions of abuse by Smyth arose while he was in Rome studying for the priesthood.”

“One church figure subsequently opposed his ordination but was overruled.”

“In a statement provided to the inquiry, Fr William Fitzgerald of the Norbertine Order, of which Fr Brendan Smyth was a member, said “warning signs had surfaced” prior to Smyth’s ordination.”(Bold added)

“I am unable to say how clear those warning signs were, but in light of what we now know the pattern of behaviour by which Brendan Smyth maintained his freedom to do as he chose was already apparent while he was in formation,” Fr Fitzgerald’s statement read.”(Bold added)

“He ought never to have been ordained to the priesthood.” (Bold added)(https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-northern-ireland-33223162)

“Brendan Smyth may have sexually abused more than 200 children, inquiry told,” by Gerry Moriarty Tue, Jun 23, 2015

“Mr Aiken said Smyth admitted that over his years as a priest he could have sexually abused “50-100 children” and that “number could even be double or perhaps even more”. The abuse is believed to have run from the late 1940s to the early 1990s.”(Bold added)

“Mr Aiken said Smyth was convicted of 117 cases of indecent assault of 41 children in the North and the Republic. There were 74 convictions for indecent assault of 20 children in the Republic and 43 convictions for indecent assault of 21 children in Northern Ireland. The Northern Ireland convictions were between 1964 and 1984 and the convictions in the Republic were between 1967 and 1993.”

“Smyth served three years in prison in the North and upon release was extradited to the Republic. He was serving a 12-year sentence in the Republic when he died of a heart attack in prison in 1997.

“Mr Aiken said the inquiry must consider from the evidence against Smyth whether the policy of the church was to protect the Catholic institutions rather than the children they were meant to serve.”(Bold added)(Italics added)

“He said the inquiry would hear about “systemic failings” of the Catholic Church which may have “caused, facilitated or failed to prevent his abuse”. (Bold added) https://www.irishtimes.com/news/crime-and-law/brendan-smyth-may-have-abused-more-than-200-children-1.2258487

“Fr Brendan Smyth Confession: I Had Hundreds of Child Sex Victims,” by Deborah Mcaleese, Belfast Telegraph, June 23, 2015

“The inquiry heard he distanced himself from the severity of his crimes and the effect they had on his victims.

During a police interview in the 1990s with RUC detectives, he said that “in some cases” the abuse “will have hurt or damaged” his victims “somewhat psychologically”. (Bold added)

“He added, however: “In some cases it hasn’t done any harm.“(Bold added)

“Fr William Fitzgerald of the Norbertine Order, of which Smyth was a member, said that the “inexcusable actions of Brendan Smyth have caused incalculable damage”. (Bold added)

“The Archdiocese of Armagh said in a statement that the “single greatest failure in this appalling saga was not reporting these matters to the civil authorities in both Northern Ireland and Republic so that they could investigate the allegations and monitor the movements of Brendan Smyth in order to minimise the risk to children”.

“The statement continued: “There was a failure to exert vigilance over Brendan Smyth and ensure he was not free to continue this abusive behaviour. The Church today can only look back on all of this with shame and in disgrace.”(Bold added)

“The diocese acknowledges that Brendan Smyth perpetrated the most heinous and deplorable crimes against children on a prolific scale.”(Bold added)

“Fr Timonthy Bartlett of the Diocese of Down and Connor said in a statement that the “consequences for the children has been catastrophic“. (Bold added) https://www.bishop-accountability.org/.news2015/05_06/2015_06_23_Mcaleese_FrBrendan.htm

GILBERT GAUTHE . . .

“As noted above, the revelations concerning Gilbert Gauthe and the Diocese of Lafayette marked a pivotal moment in the Catholic Church sex abuse crisis. By all accounts, Gauthe was a voracious predator who for over a decade repeatedly sexually assaulted many young boys. One article described his tactics as follows:”

“The priest took boys on camping trips and invited them for sleepovers in the rectory. He claimed to hold practices for altar boys every day at 6 a.m. and encouraged parents to let their boys spend the night. His sexual appetite was uncontrollable. He put bars on the windows of a rectory. He kept a gun by the side of his bed, and when children refused to submit he threatened to use it. At night, he raped the boys, forced them to perform sex acts on each other, and took photographs on his Polaroid camera.”

“The Boston Globe reported that 130 people claimed to have been sexually abused by Father Gauthe.  In 1983, one of the survivors told his father, who reported the abuse to the diocese.  The bishop sent the priest away for psycho- logical treatment and offered nine families confidential settlements of more than $4 million. One of the families refused to settle and took the case to court. In 1986, one of the boys testified in graphic detail, bringing the issue to public consciousness in the United States.”(https://www.law.Georgetown.edu/gender-journal/W2-content/uploads/sites/20/2020/01/Article-4.pdf)

ROGER SINCLAIR . . .

“Roger Sinclair was removed by the Diocese of Greensburg in Pennsylvania in 2002 for allegedly abusing a teenage boy decades earlier, he ended up in Oregon.  In 2017, he was arrested for repeatedly molesting a young developmentally disabled man and is now imprisoned for a crime that the lead investigator in the Oregon case says should have never been allowed to happen.” (https://www.nbcnews.com/news/religion/nearly/-1-700-priests-clergy-accused-sex-abuse-are-unsupervised-n1062396)

ROGER SINCLAIR HISTORY . . .

WHAT DOES GOD SAY ABOUT THOSE WHO CONCEAL THE TRUTH. . .

“But the mouth of the wicked conceals violence.” (Proverbs 10:6, 11)

“He who conceals hatred has lying lips,
And he who spreads slander is a fool.”(Proverbs 10:18)

WHY TURNING FROM SIN IS A REQUIREMENT FOR MERCY FROM JESUS . . .

“He who conceals his transgressions will not prosper,
But he who confesses and forsakes them will find compassion.”(Proverbs 28:13)(Bold added)(Italics added)

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us.”(1 John 1:9)(Bold added)

JESUS IS LIGHT . . .

“In the beginning the Word was existing. And the Word was in fellowship with God the Father. And the Word was as to His essence absolute deity. This Word was in the beginning in fellowship with God the Father. All things through His intermediate agency came into being, and without Him there came into being not even one thing which has come into existence. In Him life was existing. And this aforementioned life was the light of men. And the light in the darkness is constantly shining. And the darkness did not overwhelm it.” (John 1:1-5)(Bold added)(Italics added)

JOHN CAME TO TESTIFY CONCERNING THE LIGHT . . .

“There suddenly appeared a man upon the human scene, sent off as an ambassador from God’s presence, his name, John. This man came as a witness in order that he might bear testimony concerning the light to the end that all might believe through his intermediate agency. That man was not the light. But he came in order that he might bear witness concerning the light. He, the aforementioned Word, was the light, the genuine light which enlightens spiritually every man as it comes into the universe. In the universe He was, and the universe through His intermediate agency came into existence, and the world of sinners did not have an experiential knowledge of Him. Into the midst of His own possessions He came, and His uniquely-owned people did not take Him to themselves.”(John 1:6-11)

“John is constantly bearing witness concerning Him and calls out aloud, saying, This One is He concerning whom I said, The One who comes after me was in existence before me because He preceded me,” for out of His fullness as a source we all received, and grace in exchange for grace.”(John 1:15)

BORN AGAIN . . .

“But as many as appropriated Him, He gave to them a legal right to become born-ones of God, to those who place their trust in His name . . .”(John 1:12)

AND THE WORD BECAME FLESH . . .

“And the Word, entering a new mode of existence, became flesh, and lived in a tent [His physical body] among us. And we gazed with attentive and careful regard and spiritual perception at His glory, a glory such as that of a uniquely-begotten Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.” (John 1:14)

NOW THAT YOU HAVE KNOWLEDGE OF THE THE TRUTH AND CONTINUE SINNING WILLFULLY . . .

“For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a terrifying expectation of judgment and THE FURY OF A FIRE WHICH WILL CONSUME THE ADVERSARIES.” (Hebrews 10:26-27)

CONFESSION IS A THREE STEP PROCESS . . . PAY ATTENTION CATHOLIC CHURCH LEADERS! ! !

  1. HUMILITY . . .

“The fear of the LORD is the instruction for wisdom,

And before honor comes humility.”(Proverbs 15:33)

“Before destruction the heart of man is haughty,

But humility goes before honor.”(Proverbs 18:12)

“The reward of humility and the fear of the LORD

Are riches, honor and life.”(Proverbs 22:4)

“Seek the LORD,

All you humble of the earth

Who have carried out His ordinances;

Seek righteousness, seek humility.

Perhaps you will be hidden

In the day of the LORD’S anger.”(Zephaniah 2:3)

“Therefore, putting aside all filthiness and all that remains of wickedness, in humility receive the word implanted, which is able to save your souls.”(James 1:21)

2. THEN MAKE THE ACTUAL CONFESSION. . .

DAVID’S CONFESSION . . .

“David said to God, “Is it not I who commanded to count the people? Indeed, I am the one who has sinned and done very wickedly, but these sheep, what have they done? O LORD my God, please let Your hand be against me and my father’s household, but not against Your people that they should be plagued.”  (1 Chronicles 21:17)(Bold added)(Italics added)

DANIEL’S CONFESSION . . .

“I prayed to the LORD my God and confessed and said, “Alas, O Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps His covenant and lovingkindness for those who love Him and keep His commandments, we have sinned, committed iniquity, acted wickedly and rebelled, even turning aside from Your commandments and ordinances. Moreover, we have not listened to Your servants the prophets, who spoke in Your name to our kings, our princes, our fathers and all the people of the land.”(Daniel 9:4-6)

3. TURN AWAY FROM YOUR SIN TO MOVE GOD. . .

“We have sinned like our fathers,

We have committed iniquity, we have behaved wickedly.”(Psalms 106:6)

“When God saw their deeds, that they turned from their wicked way, then God relented concerning the calamity which He had declared He would bring upon them. And He did not do it.” (Jonah 3:10)

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU DON’T TURN FROM YOUR SIN . . .

“And why not say (as we are slanderously reported and as some claim that we say), “Let us do evil that good may come”? Their condemnation is just.

What then? Are we better than they? Not at all; for we have already charged that both Jews and Greeks are all under sin; as it is written,

“THERE IS NONE RIGHTEOUS, NOT EVEN ONE;

THERE IS NONE WHO UNDERSTANDS,

THERE IS NONE WHO SEEKS FOR GOD;

ALL HAVE TURNED ASIDE, TOGETHER THEY HAVE BECOME USELESS;

THERE IS NONE WHO DOES GOOD,

THERE IS NOT EVEN ONE.”

“THEIR THROAT IS AN OPEN GRAVE,

WITH THEIR TONGUES THEY KEEP DECEIVING,”

“THE POISON OF ASPS IS UNDER THEIR LIPS”;

“WHOSE MOUTH IS FULL OF CURSING AND BITTERNESS”;

“THEIR FEET ARE SWIFT TO SHED BLOOD,

DESTRUCTION AND MISERY ARE IN THEIR PATHS,

AND THE PATH OF PEACE THEY HAVE NOT KNOWN.”

“THERE IS NO FEAR OF GOD BEFORE THEIR EYES.”

Now we know that whatever the Law says, it speaks to those who are under the Law, so that every mouth may be closed and all the world may become accountable to God; because by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified in His sight; for through the Law comes the knowledge of sin.”(Romans 3:8-20)

What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? May it never be! Do you not know that when you present yourselves to someone as slaves for obedience, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin resulting in death, or of obedience resulting in righteousness? (Romans 6:15-16)

“What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin so that grace may increase? May it never be! How shall we who died to sin still live in it?”(Romans 6:1-2)

YOUR SIN CAN BE DONE AWAY . . .

“Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death? Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life. For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin; for he who has died is freed from sin.”(Romans 6:3-7)

YOU ONLY NEED JESUS, (THE SON OF MAN) FOR REPENTANCE . . .

“But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins”—then He *said to the paralytic, “Get up, pick up your bed and go home.” (Matthew 9:6)

CONSIDER YOURSELVES DEAD TO SIN . . .

“Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, is never to die again; death no longer is master over Him. For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. Even so consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus.”(Romans 6:8-11)

Cardinal Marc Ouellet

CELIBACY IS THE ANSWER . . .

“Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its lusts, and do not go on presenting the members of your body to sin as instruments of unrighteousness; but present yourselves to God as those alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. For sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under law but under grace.”(Romans 6:12-14)

“I therefore beg of you, please, brethren, through the instrumentality of the aforementioned mercies of God, by a once-for-all presentation to place your bodies at the disposal of God, a sacrifice, a living one, a holy one, well-pleasing, your rational, sacred service, [rational, in that this service is performed by the exercise of the mind]. And stop assuming an outward expression that does not come from within you and is not representative of what you are in your inner being but is patterned after this age; but change your outward expression to one that comes from within and is representative of your inner being, by the renewing of your mind, resulting in your putting to the test what is the will of God, the good and well-pleasing and complete will, and having found that it meets specifications, place your approval upon it.”(Romans 12:1-2)

THE FREE GIFT OF GOD IS ETERNAL LIFE . . .

“For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. Therefore what benefit were you then deriving from the things of which you are now ashamed? For the outcome of those things is death. But now having been freed from sin and enslaved to God, you derive your benefit, resulting in sanctification, and the outcome, eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”(Romans 6:20-23)

YOU WANT THE LOVE OF GOD, KEEP GOD’S COMMANDMENTS . . .

“For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:38-39)

“If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.”(John 14:15)

FORGIVENESS IS A GIFT ONLY FROM THE POWER OF JESUS CHRIST . . .

“. . . for this is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for forgiveness of sins.” (Matthew 26:28)

THE INVITATION . . .

Meanwhile, never, ever pick up your drug of choice again! A grateful addict just won’t use! Instead, pray and call your Sponsor, go to a Meeting, and read the Literature.

If you have not made the decision yet to trust God and let Him into your heart, now is the time! He is fighting for you, He is on your side, He has overcome! He’s holding back the darkness and He can not be moved! Won’t you trust Him today? Won’t you just give Him your pain? Can you surrender it to Him and trust Him with it instead of carrying it with you? He already knows your defects of character! He knows what Satan, the prince of this world, has done to make you feel helpless and hopeless.

But you need to know that Jesus is the light, the genuine light that spiritually enlightens every man, as it comes into this universe. And know this . . . the darkness did not, does not, and cannot overpower the light! There is no sin that can not be forgiven! Humbly confess it knowing that only He can remove all sins! He did it on the cross! He shed his blood that you might have life everlasting . . . but you have to believe!

Faith is an action word! Once you confess it, and you surrender it, then you have to walk in it knowing, (without a doubt) that Jesus is Lord! He is the King of salvation, sanctification and reconciliation and He is able to do exceedingly, abundantly more than you can ask or imagine! Won’t you open your heart, give him your hand and just trust Him today! It only requires for you to believe that He died for your sins and mines. . . that He was buried and on the third day, he rose from the dead.

He is the resurrected Savior, God with us until eternity! He will never leave you! He will never forsake you! He is the epitome of love! There is none like Him! Won’t you let Him envelope you in love, agape love . . . a love so overwhelming, knowing that he died for you . . . Yes! Just for you! Let Him minister to you! Every time you’re in pain, you need help, just call on Him . . . There’s power in His name! Just say, ”Jesus help!” He will be there because it’s not in His nature to fail!

May His peace be with you until the day of His return,

“Water Walker”
